Fall foliage tends to peak a little earlier than downstate, so you’ll want to start planning this getaway soon to make the most of the fall colors. To make sure you’re getting the best views of the brilliantly painted landscape, you can check the Fall Foliage Report online and plan your visit to coordinate with the peak of the season. There are events going on all season long here, so check the calendar as well and see if something piques your interest, or just enjoy the Adirondacks at your own leisure pace. What goes better with wine than some cheese? The Petrossian Cheese Basket has all that and more – including wildflower honey, our pork saucisson, a selection of nuts, chocolate covered figs, jams, and baguettes packed in our signature blue gift box to make bringing this tasty array a breeze.

The Finger Lakes Wine Region

Heading west in New York, you’ll find the Finger Lakes, home to two distinct wine trails. The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail boasts being America’s first wine trail, and is located alongside the lake with the southernmost winery being just outside of downtown Ithaca. If you want to see all of the wineries, plan on making a weekend of it to allow for plenty of time to enjoy the scenic drive along the lake’s shores and Finger Lakes region. There are a wide array of places to stay, ranging from quaint bed & breakfasts to world class resorts with something for everyone.

Beyond wine, waterfalls abound in the Finger Lakes Wine Region of New York Wine Trails.

The second winery in this region is the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, located along another Finger Lake, to the west of Cayuga. Home to more wineries than any other wine trail in New York, the fall harvest season is the best time to explore this area. Each of the member wineries has its own vineyards, and they proudly cultivate them to make wines you’ll love. In addition to the wineries, there are state parks and hikes with natural rock formations and cascading waterfalls, a ton of options for lodging and transportation, and even accommodations for large groups. With over thirty – yes you read that right, 30! – member wineries, this is definitely a getaway worth taking a few days to experience as there is so much to do and you won’t want to miss any of it. For such a robust offering, pack the Petrossian Picnic in the Park, and you’ll have everything you need to make this fall foliage getaway one to revel in long after the last of the autumn colors have faded into the blanket of winter’s first snow.
